Santiago Orozco from Todo Mundo stopped by the WorldArts Stage for an exclusive Periscope set!
Todo Mundo was voted “Best World Music” band at the 2014 & 2015 San Diego Music Awards and have toured across North America for the past 3 years. They just returned home from a 2 month summer tour across the U.S., performing at a variety of festivals, summer concerts, clubs, and ski resorts. Our music is a mixture of Spanish Rumba, Reggae, Brazilian, Balkan and Middle Eastern styles.
They’ve supported international and national touring artists such as Fred Wesley, Chris Isaak, Robben Ford, Mike Love, Los Amigos Invisibles, JJ Grey & Mofro, Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson, Sister Nancy, Aterciopelados, Jarabe De Palo, Vokab Kompany, Andy Frasco & The U.N, The Bunny Gang, and El Gran Silencio. Some of the festivals they performed at in 2015 have included Lightning In A Bottle, California Worldfest, Crestone Music Festival, and Summer Arts & Music Festival in Humboldt, CA.
In November 2014, they received an award from the City of San Diego’s Human Relation Commission for spreading diversity through music. In February 2015, Todo Mundo entered NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Contest. From the 7,000 artist submissions they received, NPR’s Alt.Latino program selected Todo Mundo and 10 other bands as their top artists that were featured in one of their podcasts. Santiago is now working on a new project (to be released in June) called Within which he is starting in Los Angeles. Stay tuned!
