Indie/Rock band The Recoupes have released their latest single All I Know! The new track from this Essex/London-based quartet “came about at one of our band practices and we put it into our live set straight away, maybe even before we’d worked everything out, but the reception it got was too good for us not to record it as soon as we could. It’s definitely one of our favorites” the band says. Comprised of Michael Niner (drums), Alan Li (vocals/rhythm guitar), Louie Cameron (bass), and Oliver Zanetti (lead guitar), all four members are 19 years old. The group takes inspiration from Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Strokes, and The 1975 to create danceable, indie songs with a ‘live’ sound. Founded in 2013, the band has played venues all across the U.K. like the O2 Islington, Camden Assembly, and The Goodship, and have had their songs featured on the BBC.
The song was recorded at the famed Magic Green Recording Studios in Wolverhampton, produced by Gavin Monaghan, and engineered by Joe Murray (Robert Plant, JAWS, The Sherlocks, Ocean Colour Scene). “All I Know is quite a simple song and has a feel-good, danceable indie vibe to it straight from the start making it a really fun song to play live” the group says. “The lyrics were written about the girlfriend of our singer and it’s basically about knowing that you can’t be perfect, especially when you’re young and you feel like you’re still getting the hang of life. But despite that, you find someone who accepts that and you want to give your all to the that person. It’s that classic line ‘It’s not much, but it’s all I have’. A part that’s quite special in the song is that middle eight where we go from talking about the situation to directing the words straight at who we’re talking about, and we came up with that part in the studio which we’ve never really done before but we’re pleased with how it came out”.
