Nick Murphy, birth name of music producer Chet Faker, has pushed on with his music career without the Chet Faker name. Back in September, the Australian music producer released his first track “Fear Less” under his new moniker. Murphy’s second single, “Stop Me (Stop You)” is also his first single from his upcoming album that was co-produced by David Harrington, from Darkside.

“It’s been half a decade since I started releasing music as Chet Faker and all of you have been the driving force behind the music since.

There’s an evolution happening and I wanted to let you know where its going.

The next record will be under my own name, Nick Murphy.

Chet faker will always be a part of the music.

This is the next.” – Chet Faker announced on his Facebook page

Australian radio publication Triple J recently sat down on a Skype call with Murphy to talk about new music and his evolution as an artist. Murphy notes that everything made under Chet Faker isn’t going away, but Nick Murphy is the new direction he’s pushing forward with.

Nick Murphy will making his debut in Los Angeles for Red Bull Sound Select’s last show for 30 days in LA, Nov. 30 at The Ace Hotel Theater. It’s one of his first shows under his Nick Murphy moniker, however, he still plans on integrating Chet Faker music with the new music he’s cooking up.
