R&B singer Miguel scores his first No. 1 on R&B Albums as Wildheartstarts atop the chart (dated July 18). The set, his third studio album, sold 41,000 copies during the tracking week ending July 5, according to Nielsen Music. Wildheart takes the No. 2 slot on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
Miguel’s previous set, Kaleidoscope Dream, opened at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (chart dated Oct. 20, 2012), three months before the R&B Albums chart was introduced. Upon the chart’s conception (Jan. 26, 2013) the set landed at No. 5, later peaking at No. 3 (March 2, 2013)
Over on the Billboard 200, Miguel claims his highest peak, entering at No. 2 with 48,000 equivalent album units. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
The set’s arrival spurs album track “Simple Things” onto Hot R&B Songs, where it debuts at No. 21. The song shifted 15,000 digital downloads, aiding in its entrance. Meanwhile, lead single “Coffee” perks up 32-29 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, driven in part by a 25 percent rise in streams (to 1.7 million).
