Electro-Pop duo Given Names has released their latest track East to West! The new song arrives ahead of their upcoming 2018 sophomore EP, EP 2. Having already been featured in Alternative Press, Substream Magazine and AltSounds, the band’s dark, minimalist sound is the product of design creatives David Raymond (Hidden Hospitals, Damiera) and Jeremy Perez-Cruz (The Still Voice, Sleeping Girl Drowning). “Melancholy can be uplifting. A mix of emotion—glades of light streaming into a pensive darkness” this Brooklyn/Chicago-based duo explains about their work. “Sublety is substance. Lyric and melody; restrained, clean and controlled, yet, rich with complexity and texture.”
Their debut EP, entitled EP1, is available now, and features their signature alternative/electronica sound. EP1 was recorded alongside remix artist/producer Villain Lighting (Bleachers) and consists of four songs the duo describes as “unsettling, hook-laden melodies poised to scratch your cognitive itch”. Raymond and Perez-Cruz have taken their years of experience in art, design, and music to craft austere, yet complex and rich, dark electro-pop. With the new release, Given Names rewards listeners with their aim to produce “minimalist electronic structures imbued with melodies that carry a heft of emotion, resulting a sound as heady as it is visceral and haunting.”
