Indie-Pop group Foreign Figures has released their latest single Heart of Gold! Led by a smooth R&B/Pop vocal, the band blends melodious indie-pop with a hip-hop backbone and rock & roll attitude. “It can be difficult sharing uncomfortable experiences with others, but being really seen and vulnerable is a strength, not weakness. Keep it real” the band says about their sound and newest track. Formed in 2014 and comprised of brothers Eric Michels (vocals) and Steve Michels (drums) along with Seth Dunshee (bass) and Jonny Tanner (guitar), this Orem, UT-based foursome hit the studio in early 2017 to create their third independent release, a six-single EP entitled Overzealous. The first three singles off the EP; Cold War, ADAN, and Hey Love were released in summer and fall and quickly garnered praise from outlets like AP magazine, Idobi radio, and Popdust.
Through a mutual friend, the Michels’ brothers connected with Dunshee and Tanner while they were all students at Utah Valley University and felt an immediate musical connection. After taking their name from each member’s time spent abroad and their desire to connect the world through music, Foreign Figures was born. In their first two years as a group, they wrote, produced, and independently released an EP and an album, which amassed thousands of downloads and millions of streams in over 25 different countries. The band’s early success lead to licensing deals with TVLand, TuneCore and Fox, and to live performances with major artists like X Ambassadors, American Authors, Smallpools, The Aces, and Lukas Graham. Foreign Figures has spent 2017 writing, in the studio, and on the road, having done two tours throughout the United States. The band will kick of 2018 with the final release of the Overzealous EP, leading into a tour of western states tour in the spring and summer.
