Alex G. and roommate Torri Horness took the WorldArts stage Tuesday to play a few songs and update us on the exciting projects they’ve been working on since their visit last year.
In addition to completing her first U.S. and Europe tour, Alex also released her first EP titled “Share Your Story” last October where she wrote about five fan-submitted stories.
“I chose five amazing, incredible stories that I feel really showed the human condition in just that we are not alone,” says Alex. “I got to actually meet four out of those five on tour and it was incredible to actually see how healing it was to bring their stories to life and show the power of vulnerability.”
With almost 1.5 million followers on YouTube, the 24-year-old singer/songwriter is exposing those struggles that are usually kept behind a smile. We’re often told to “be kind” for “everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about”. Alex G is a storyteller and she is making those battles known.
“My tour was very personal and vulnerable as well,” says Alex G in her WA Session interview. “I was telling parts of my story that I felt necessary and it’s scary but I want to keep doing them on Youtube.”
Check out the third WA Session and interview below to hear about the stories behind her songs “Muriel,” “Alena,” and “Lighthouse”.
