Singer/songwriter David Martinez will hit the stage at the Texas Indie Fest on March 15th, 16th, and 17th in Austin, TX! He’ll play at the Red Shed Tavern with The David Martinez Band after a successful tour as an acoustic player in 2016, and claiming stake as the #1 Alternative artist in his hometown of Corpus Christi. This SXSW and Indie Fest veteran recently released his new CD “Piece of Me”, solidifying his status as one of the most popular independent artists in South Texas. A fixture on independent and terrestrial radio shows in the U.S. and abroad, David also won ‘Artist of the Year‘ on Independent Corner, and placed second in the prestigious Independent Share ‘Top 40 Artists of the Year‘. A new recording project is also in the works for the singer, whose single ‘I Wanna Know’ was featured globally, and won the title of ‘Top Indie Song’. As a youth, David was first influenced by his multi-instrumentalist father, and later by such greats as Grand Funk Railroad, Kiss, Steve Miller Band, and Led Zeppelin. He cut his teeth in the the local Corpus Christi scene, while continuing his formal music studies. It was in Los Angeles, where David embarked on a musical fusion with famed producer Leroy Miller. In 2007, David recorded ‘Can’t Find You’ and ‘Where Could I Go’ in Leroy’s Hollywood studio. The David Martinez Band was formed in ’08, consisting of David (Acoustic Guitar/Lead Vocals), Johnny Ramos Jr. (Drums/Percussion), Joseph Flores (Lead Guitar), and Johnny Mitchell (Bass), leading to the band’s first EP release in 2009. In 2010, the band performed their first gig during SXSW, before going on tour in California, including a date at the legendary Viper Room in in West Hollywood. David hit the studio in Nashville to record more tracks with Leroy, which included ‘Hey Mary’, released in December of that year. In 2013, the David Martinez ‘Crazy Ride’ East Coast Acoustic Tour led to a #15 position on US Alternative charts. Now a multi-year regular at SXSW, David has played dates all over the U.S. alongside acts like Danika Holmes, Lovebettie, and Jason Jeka of Fivestar Deluxe.
The band’s next stop is Texas Indie Fest 2017, a 3-day independent music showcase featuring the best emerging artists from around the country during music week in Austin, TX.
